Since it was declared that Tuesday, January 2, 2007 will be a National Day of Mourning for President Ford by President Bush, ALL Federal offices will be closed on that day, including the Post Office.

The NYSE will most likely be closed also making that the longest shutdown of the NYSE since 9/11. It has been the stock exchanges custom to close to honor the death of a president.

Yeah because the Post Office and I guess State courts fall under Federal Law. I know the Post office close., I really hate to see him pass away, but you know you finally get a little tired of that is all that any news channel show the same with President Reagan
all day long. It is really sad but both of them lived long lives their age was way beyond male limit of expectancy. When the Pope the same thing, it finally just wears you out.

Does anybody understand the difference between federal court and state court? State offices are only closed if your governor orders it. Most will ,but I'd call to make sure.

Yeah, I completely agree. in the event that they are going to close down the federal places of work it useful could be effective in the event that they might close down the colleges and different artwork places so we are able to all "bear in mind President Ford". yet i'm oftentimes mad that I will on no account be getting my mail for days. I propose with a Sunday, then New Years and now this - i might desire to be lacking out on some helpful stuff (plus, i'm slightly addicted to checking the mail).

If you are called to state court I'd surely call the court before not showing up.

However with the Post Office and most Gov jobs most will be off...

You can check the PO website, but I don't think so. They're off for New Year's the day before. I used to work there & they gave us a vacation day we could schedule later when an ex-pres died.
