i've always loved the musical, but in the movie you could tell that it was a difficult transition for the actors to be performing to a camera after performing to audiences for years. other than that, i think they did a fine job. love it.

I absolutely love RENT. The original Broadway production won numerous Tony Awards including Best Musical. The movie was ok, not the best, but it is at least worth a watch.

Terrible.
I've seen the play and wasn't blown away by it, but at the same time it wasn't bad. The movie was crap. I feel that if you're going to take something written for the stage and put it on the screen, you need to take extra care and polish all of the ends. This movie lacked it.
I give props to the cast. Idina Menzell, Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp are all amazing. They can all act and can sing just about anyone under a bus.

It's odd to be a movie actually...
I think that it would be MUCH better to be seen as a broadway show more than a movie at movie theatres and at home.

The movie was really dumb. I was so excited about seeing it on film, but it did not justice to the actual Broadway show.

I like that song in the movie, I don't remember what it's called but it starts, "Six hundred, ..., ..., in a year." Something like that and I just love that song. I never saw the movie before though!

I liked the music and hated the storyline. Just a bunch of people whining because they can't live in an apartment for free.

My 15 year old daughter loves it and can resite every word. I don't think its healthy.
