I think it matters only that you act as if you are in a reality.
If you theorize or chose to believe that nothing is real, then nothing you do has much consequence. If you follow through on this belief, it would lead to chaos. Social structure depends on everyone following certain rules and customs.

We need some common reality.

Peace

I have always used what I call my "coffee" illustration when I have addressed this issue when teaching Sunday School. If I have gasoline in my cup, no matter if everyone in this 6 billion plus populated world says its coffee, if I drink it, I will suffer the internal effects of drinking a very dangerous poison. The reality of the situation, regardless of what everyone may say, is that if I drink gasoline I will suffer serious consequences for doing so! Reality does matter!

Your question implies that reality exists since you ask if if matters. Reality is only our perception of it but can we trust our perceptions? We could trust them only if they are real but they cannot be real in the possibility that reality does not exist. Let us assume that reality exists: then it matters. Let us assume reality does not exist: then it still matters because our perceptions matter.

Only your reality matters, as that is the only one you can really see. You live in your own head, and virtually everything is based on your perception of the world around you.

You are always in reality...your reality. If yourself matters then reality does matter.

If you choose to ignore reality, you become estranged from that which has the ability to inspire imagination. Reality does matter.

Are you just asking a random philosophy question or have you had any formal philosophy education at all. That is very vague and quite ambiguous. What is reality? What do you mean by matter? Who does it matter to? Add some details.

Define reality. Eveyone's reality is different from anothers.

We need something as basis for our point of reference. But reality is subjective. Each individual has his/her own reality. It is not absolute.

It matters as long as one is conscious and living. After we die, what good is "reality"?
