My two best friends come over every week on tuesdays, and they usually spend the night. I have no problem w/ that it's just when I get up the next day they have completely destroyed the house. Their house is horrible. I know they live like that there but, is there a way for me to get them to start picking up after themselves when they're here.

i wouldn't try to give any hints, they wouldn't pick up on them. lol. just come right out and state what the rules and boundaries are. if they continue with their wicked nasty ways, no more spending the night. case closed. we teach ppl how to treat us, so you need to grow some, and lay down the law. good luck with this.

The next morning, just ask them to help you out while you are cleaning around, and if they moan (be understanding with them if they're not really into cleaning) tell them cheerfully that it's easier and faster for three people to finish, and you could add here that you really like a tidy house and that it's important to you ;) etc.
They'll start getting the habit, when they notice the morning after clean up routine, every time they come over lol
Good luck! :)

Come on now, what do you mean by 'hint' ; You gotta hint at that ? Fat chance because they will not take you serious .
Make them take off their shoes when they come in and then say : now listen up you guys there are some new rules around here that have to be obeyed from this day forward .
Fun is fun, but enough of the messes you leave behind. Say: it takes me all week to clean up and then there you are again starting all over . I love your company but I am tired of the trash. Please respect me and try to be neat .
I bet they'll be perplexed, ticked off even, but if they value your friendship they better listen up .
Good luck and don't feel bad if you don't see them the following week. Like I said , the friendship is strictly from hunger if they keep doing it .

TELL THEM if they want to live like hogs in their house, so be it, but don't do it in yours. If they can't accept that I wouldn't invite them over any more. OR...Charge them for maid service at the rate of about $25 or so an hr. When they ask what the charge is for tell them just that.."I must hire a cleaning crew every time y'all spend the night and I can't afford it anymore".

You don't try to give them a 'hint'. You just tell them outright that if they can't clean up after themselves, then the Tuesday night party will have to end.

Post a sign with something like
" If you get it out, put it back
If its trash, throw it away."
Really, some people feel a little to comfortable in a friends house and forget that they are guest. I suggest you do something thats not just towards them but any body who might visit. That way no one will ffeel insulted.

Defintely set your house rules up.I did. Mine is a plaque I bought but you can defintely Make your own poster on the computer or if your artistic by hand. Put this in a very obvious place the fridge or in the bathroom. That way you know it is read by all who visit

Here is the one I have:

Rules of the house:If you sleep on it ..Make it up.If you wear it..Hang it up.If you drop it..Pick it up.If you spill it..Wipe it up.If you open it..Close it.If it rings.. answer it.If it howls..feed it.If it cries..love it.

You don't hint around. You simply tell them. You enjoy their company and they are more than welcome to come to visit and stay the night. However, you must pick up after yourselves, unless you want to pay a maid service. God bless****

Well, unless they have a crystal ball, and since they don't seem to have manners, I would tell them.
