I beleive it is. It's the only way to enjoy your life. I don't really meet people who like being stressed or depressed all the time. Besides, optimists live longer and a long life is a happy life for many.

hmm..... everyone has a different definition for "the meaning of life," because we all have a different purpose in this world. I would not say that the meaning of life is happiness because i do not know how someone can be truely happy in this world. I once read a book that said that the meaning of life was to reflect God's light into the dark places of the world. Which whether you are a Christian or not you should try to reflect light into the dark places of the world. I think that if we all gave a little of what we have the world would be a better place. Everyone should give of themselves to make this world a little happier....so i guess you are on the right track....keep searching for answers!!!

The meaning of life is to do something that outlasts your life, like having children or writing a great book. The meaning of life is a cake and happiness is the frosting.

Happiness definitely is one of the ends of life along with survival and search for truth. But how can we be happy all the time is a difficult question.

I think what you're asking is this: "isn't the experience of being happy what we ultimately desire, and what we should desire?" it's not clear whether you're asking whether happiness is the ONLY thing that is desirable or that should be desired.

When it comes to intrinsic value, happiness is the answer a lot of people give. But it's not the only possibility. Pleasure (Bentham), power (Nietzsche), knowledge (Plato), self-actualization (existentialists - maybe?), etc have also been proposed.

happiness can make your life better, but there are little things in our everyday life we can enjoy, although we claim being unhappy.

you may also not be happy, but u can also give happiness to others..with your existence. this is one of the meanings of life.

no. who says there is a meaning to life? life is by definition...movement. so if you are moving you are alive. after that ...survival is the next step. happiness, well, those moments of grace happen at random and keep us hoping for the next ones. if not for these brief but reoccurring happenings we wouldn't want to keep on moving and survive.

I don't think so. Your life can be very meaningful without making you particularly happy.

no, the totality of all emotions are the meaning. you wouldn't know how good happy was unless you were not sad sometimes.
