Turn off System Restore. It's almost never useful and can take up huge amounts of hard drive space.

Deleting some old programs you don't use anymore. For example if you have a game installed that you haven't played in a long time, you can get rid of that. HOWEVER don't uninstall stuff if you don't know exactly what it is and how the uninstall will affect your pc. To uninstall programs, click START then CONTROL PANEL. When the panel shows up, click on add/remove programs. Again be careful what you delete. Good Luck.

Consider buying an extra hard drive. If you keep some really important stuff on your computer then you probably want to also get a good external disk. In general, if you do not have two copies of a file on seperate physical drives then it's not important to you! Remember, computers can fail at any time and take your valuable data with them.

Run Disk Cleanup, that's a quick way to get rid of the cache, empty the recycle bin, etc. and delete unused apps and docs
