I am on the phone with post office employee right now.

They will either be closed on the 2nd or the 3rd, she has not been told yet.

It is because of the death of President Gerald Ford.

Since it was declared that Tuesday, January 2, 2007 will be a National Day of Mourning for President Ford by President Bush, ALL Federal offices will be closed on that day, including the Post Office.

The NYSE will most likely be closed also making that the longest shutdown of the NYSE since 9/11. It has been the stock exchanges custom to close to honor the death of a president.

USPS and FedEx are not direct opposition in many situations. The USPS can provide many greater styles of small mail at an more advantageous quantity, which consists of letters (that are taking a success from digital mail). FedEx grant applications, priority mail, freight; in addition they have replica centers, corporation and printing centers. you're comparing apples and oranges.
