It's a sound effect which you can change or switch off by going to Start>> Control Panel>>Sound & Audio Devices.

The click noise is just the noise that IE makes when it goes to another host computer. It has nothing to do with the hardware. If you are using Win XP and you think that u dont want any sound effects then just go to control panel>> sounds and audio devices>>click on sounds>>and from the sound scheme select NO SOUND and save it. You will not get any interrupting sound effects.

Sound Effect. Go into Control Panel...>Sounds and change it if you like.
