They sure do. Most of them are re-makes. Like Annie, The Music Man, and so on. Not as good as the old ones, but at least their tryn'. And of course there's the recent one's like Highschool Musical. And there are one's I've heard are coming out soon like Highschool Musical 2 and other's that I can't think of right now, but are supposed to come out within the year.
Check out Disney every so often. It may seem kiddish to you, but it seems they are trying to bring back the 'musicals era'.

Very rarely. The last 2 originals that I can think of are "High School Musical" and "Moulin Rouge." Aside from that, I've just seen remakes of Broadway musicals such as Chicago, Rent, Dream Girls, Phantom of the Opera, Evita and The Producers (although that was actually a movie from the 60's before the Broadway show.)

Edit: I see several answers below on Dreamgirls. Pls note this is a REMAKE. I saw it on Broadway when I was in middle school. Nonetheless, I would love to see the movie, and thrilled that Jennifer Hudson is making headlines after American Idol.

I saw a review of Dreamgirls this morning on TV and they said it is a modern day musical, gets you inspired by the story and songs.
