What, exactly, do die-hard Republicans NOT understand about the a*s*s* whoopin' they took in the mid-terms? Even Rove knew there'd be some major damage control, although he was spinning till the bitter end.
How were the mid-terms NOT a refutation and rejection of what had been happening politically for several years?
Now, the Democrats STILL might manage to screw up a golden opportunity, but how do you Reps NOT get the message? The people voted. You lost severe yardage.

Scott - I've lived through several presidencies and seen my share of "bad apples." There was no way the GOP had any moral high ground going into the mid-terms.
txwebber - EXCELLENT ANSWER!

The Republicans haven't figured what has happened , yet. You take what you call your President whatever his name is he still waiting for the results. He doesn't read because he has a terrible disease , he has Dyslexia and his brother Neal also has this problem., his Mother taught him and Neal both to read at 15 yrs.old. Hi wife reads to him and I guessed just missed the paper that day. Him, Cheney, and Rice the whole caboodle is what I want to see leave, yesterday.

Well, for sure it was one of the biggest landslides in the past years for any party but I'm glad that the Democrats are back. My question is can they get back on the road with some of the issues they waited to put on the table 12 years ago? One topic that really interests me is electoral reform, both the Electoral College and the Electoral System (Simple Plurality System). Yep, the mid-terms were full of the same old stuff but this had to happen soonder or later. In my head, I was wondering why third parties had bad runs this year. The only possiblity was Smithers (Libertarian) in Texas for Delay's seat and the Republicans supported the write-in campaign of Sekula-Gibbs and had Lampson win. The Democrats were going to win the majority in the House so I hoped that the Libertarians could make history. Well, we can still save our elections. I'm doing alot of research about proposals for reforming the Electoral College and the electoral system. Be careful in '08 because I see a third party getting high support in both the Presidential and General elections but I hope we (Dems) get the White House again!

What CONSERVATIVES do understand is that LIBERALS didn't win anything. Most of the Democrats that replaced Republicans are (or at least ran as) more conservative than the people they replaced. Joe Lieberman was kicked of the Democrat ticket for supporting the war and kicked a** in the general election. The incumbents that lost did so because they weren't doing what the people wanted. Many of their replacements were simply the other choice.

My President is still Republican and there isn't a Democrat holding office in my state since the elections.
Guess the people spoke here too!
In reply to John Doe:
I stated that my President is STILL (key word) Republican. I also stated that there are no Democrats holding office SINCE the elections (meaning the MID TERM elections).
What part do you not understand?
In reply to txwebber:
Contrary to what you may believe, Democrats didn't win everything. We voted the few that were in office out! Minority, maybe - but at least we have the convictions to vote what is right instead of what may be popular!

In most every case it was by the slim est of vote that the Dem's won. Its a cycle that will swing from side to side just as a market does.
I wouldn't crow to loudly as your team has Clinton that didn't have sex. Or then there is Al Gore whom invented the Internet. Don't forget war hero John Kerry. And the Elder Statesmen and Swimmer Ted Kennedy.
There is good and bad apples on both sides. As you grow in your Life experiences expand you will realize this more. Try to be Opened minded.

A better question is, when will both parties understand the majority of the people are not bubbleheads like you with a mindless need to follow the extremes of one party or the other?

A lot of the "Democrat" winners are way more moderate than your average run of the mill Democrat. It remains to be seen if they will fall into line on some of the more controversial moral questions facing Congress.

Lady Stable, I don't know if you live in a polygamist colony in Utah, but my state TEXAS saw a whole fleet of Republicans lose office to Democrats in the last election.
Yes, the Republicans should take the last election as a wake up call. Abandon your radical right wing agenda for a centrist unifying agenda or watch your party grow smaller in every election.
