Would especially like to hear answers from people 60+ who might be able to offer the younger generation some helpful advice on living a full and happy life. Doesn't have to be health related, could be finance, relationships, etc., I just couldn't find a suitable category.

This may seem a little masacistic, but when I find that I am getting too wrapped up in the shallow, petty things the world has to offer, or when I feel that I need to look around me and see how good life is, I find that I can get very quick perspective by reading about global or historical injustices. I know sounds aweful! But the fact is, it's hard to forget what an amazingly blessed life you have after reading first hand accounts of people who were children during the holocaust.

Relationships: I think a fulfilled, happy and long life revolves around relationships. It is my opinion that if a person waits until late 20's or early 30's to be married, a person would be happier and have a chance on a marriage lasting, or by that time, a person might decide he/she would rather remain unmarried and independent. Also by that time, a person should have their "wild oats" sown; have some money saved; know what he/she wants in life; have experiences which could serve him/her in the future. I think maturity before making life-long decisions is best in trying to live a happy, fulfilling and long life. This also included with education and some type of religious affiliation. Good Luck!

Good question.

I could say loads of things that sound smart, but there was one thing my father said that I have never forgotten.

He asked me if I would like to be a millionaire. I was 16 at the time and said yes, of course.

He said ok....all you have to do is think about nothing else...care about nothing else. Spend every waking moment thinking about and going out and making money. Forget about hobbies and interests. Don't bother to make friends or look for a partner in life.
Forget about playing sports or socialising and ignore anybody who does not fit in with your plan for you to be rich.

Do all of these things...and I guarantee you will be a millionjaire by the time you are 21.

This was when a millionaire really was rich!!!!

He was absolutely right...and when I worry about money today, I still have that underlaying satisfaction that this was my choice.
I could have been that person if I had chosen it.

This is one of the few pieces of wisdom I have found in my life...and it has served me well.

Hi,drcswalker, (catchy name, by the way),
I haven't quite reached the big six-zero yet,but since half my immediate family are dead now,I feel qualified to answer.
Things that have served me well over the years include-
(i) The ability to think outside of the box when people come up with niggling complaints (i.e no money,no girlfriend,no life, ).
(ii) Regardless of how much moaning people do about trivial things that,to them, seem huge (i.e Unpaid bills, daughters setting fire to the house,etc..), being able to nod in agreement and switch off at the same time.
(iii) Come to terms with the fact that all of our body clocks are ticking away, and it is up to each of us to live each day as if tomorrow is the last. This is the most important thing, so all of you kids out there whose Xbox360 has just crashed,so what?
Have a happy and fulfilling new year,
Misterviv

Financial: Never buy anything unless you have the money in your hands unless it is real estate. Do not pay finance fees on credit cards. Save money when you can and invest it in real estate as soo as you can.
Relationship: Compromise, compromise. Respect your partner. Never ask anyone to do what you can do for yourself. Communicate.
General: A few no and yes answers between 17 and 25 can change your life permanently.

When I was a boy, my brothers and I would make a lot of noise, to our Gran's annoyance. Gran would complain and I would say I don't care. Gran would say "mark my words my boy, don't cares where made to care". Well now I have two Children and a disabled wife to care for, my Gran's words are proved true.
I have remembered this saying over the years and used it many times.

Hello,

My sense of humor, faith in God, keeping
family ties, having a job you really love despite bosses who might stink, not quitting on your marriage, having interests that you pursue regularly, like reading, writing, creating art, music, dance.
A few pieces of advice I'd like to pass along:
Don't give in to your emotions.
Don't believe everything your read or see in the movies or on t.v..
Believe in yourself.
Learn to be gracious and grateful.
Don't be too quick to criticize.
Remember: God is closer than thinking, closer than breathing..you are one.
Don't listen to anything in your mind or from other people's mouth that seperates you from the love of God or self esteem.
Love.
Karen

Looking for the bright side in everything and everyone instead of being cynical and critical. Going out of your way to be honest and ethical. You have a choice to make things better or make them worse.
