I have installed the program a few times now. I had to go to the miscrosoft website to get the DirectX 9.0. It said that everything installed correctly but when I try to open the game the screen just flashes black once and nothing happens. I do not think my laptop is the problem, it might be just a setting. Please let me know if you have any ideas I could try. Thanks!

Battlefield 2 is graphically demanding.
Your laptop needs a separate video card (not intergrated, not shared) to run, and it MUST be at least 128mb Nvidia or better.
or it will never run.

ARE YOU TRYING TO PLAY ONLINE?IF AS SOON AS THE SCREEN GOES BLACK PRESS CTRL ALT AND DELETE AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL SEE IF YOU WANT TO PROGRAM TO ALLOW INTERNET ACCESS OR BLOCK....THIS HAPPENED TO BE TOO.

Maybe your computer doesn't have enough ram for it.
