My daughter lost her cell phone at the park (razr v3). I don't have insurance for it and I have the phone suspended (not cancelled.) Can I get a new phone that can have the same number and not have to cancel that phone? Please Help!!

Should I get insurance (my daughter is 10) and maybe a cheaper phone? Or should I get her the same kind of phone and no insurance?

I can afford the razr but to think that a 10 year old has a razr is a little extreme....She has always wanted the razr and when she lost it, I think that she sort of expected me to get her a better phone. What should I do?

Yes you can. You can either buy one at full price from Verizon or buy a used one somewhere like eBay. Just make sure it is dual band/trimode CDMA and it's not locked. If your contract is almost up, Verizon will let you get another phone for free by extending it for a couple years. Whichever way you manage to get your hands on a phone, you'll be able to keep your same plan and number as they transfer the service to the new phone with what's called an ESN change (or ESN transfer).
If you get an expensive phone, I'd get the insurance because the cost of replacing it with the same (like you're going to find out) is enormous. Even though the Razr doesn't cost that much up front, the unsubsidized replacement price does. An el cheapo phone is one I wouldn't get insurance for since you can find plenty of them through various used sources for cheap. That may be what you'll have to replace that Razr with depending on how much money you're willing to toss into this.

well, the odds of that happening again, may be very little. so u dont have to get insurence.and if this has been happening alot, and u think its gonna happen again, try getting a cheaper phone.but the razr isnt that expensive, so u can get her the same one again.

Call Verizon Wireless and ask them. I'm not for sure if they will be able to do that. Good Luck!
