Super Mario Brothers question?

Question

I remember in the mid-90's I would play a Mario game on my Nintendo. I would like someone to tell me the name of it, because I forgot it. In the game you had to rescue Princess Peach, and when you would go into a specific room she would be in there on a screen. Her head was on the screen talking to you, but after a while it would turn into an evil face. Also, I remember there being a castle outside. Please help!

P.S. This was on an original Nintendo game console. No gameboy, or anything like that.
