I know this might be shocking considering todays Islamo-facist conflict, but if you look at history man tends to fight wars for reasons other than religion (in fact the precieved religious wars normally have a very political/power struggle undertone.)

The roots of WW1 were complex, diverse, and many. Some of those root causes were actually religious in nature. For centuries, religion was a major cause for war in Europe (ie, the Reformation and Counter-Reformation). WWI was a war that swept up about every past offense and perceived offense and rolled them all into one ludricous, all-encompassing war that got so overwhelming, that after awhile no one knew what they were fighting for. In a way, it was a bit like a barroom brawl: once the fighting got going, everyone joined in as everyone had a score to settle.
The roots of WW2 were in WW1.

South Park had an episode set in the future with 2 athiest alliances and the sea otter population all going to war with each other, it was pretty funny. The show emphasized how each had their own logic that was illogical. The imagery of the sea otter army riding ostraches like a muslim anti-crusader army was hilarioius. The athiest armies were science professor-geeks, you had to see it. They will show it again I am sure.
And I didnt realize WW2 was fought because of the jews, that explains why Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, it all makes sense now.....
