The answer they want is "FLAT", however, it's not true -- if you've ever been on a boat on the ocean, heading away from shore, when you look back you'll see the beaches disappear (behind the curve of the earth) by the time you're a couple miles offshore. The farther you go, more is hidden behind the horizon. So the space program wasn't necessary to see it.
