No. I've read on several occasions that there is exactly one thing that every single culture, right down to jungle tribes, has in common--marriage. Every discovered culture on the face of the earth has a recognized marriage ceremony and tradition. That's pretty large of an institution for it to just go away because of the way it's dealt with in our OWN ONE culture. There is a fundamental human drive that creates the desire for the bond of marriage.

this is a really interesting question!

more and more people now co-habit rather than marry, so i believe to some extent it will sort of fizzal out, and co-habiting will probably be the norm. kids are brought up in single-parent families and sometimes even better! than with two parents, so marrying i believe is a thing of the past. evidence has shown that divorce is on the up and is expensive, and people do commit to each other in long term relationships without ever marrying. at the end of the day its just a piece of paper and if a partner was going to stray or not love you as they should, who's to say they won't do this anyway?
food for thought!

I really like Angle Eve. And her answer too. What do you think of a world without marriage. You think we should just start a baby factory. Sure. We could unionize the factory and pay double time for over time. Never get laid off Wow what a great idea. What do you think Angle?
