I visited this school I got into and it has an awesome program for what it is I want to do. Their facilities are amazing and I sat in on the awesome class. I mean I loved that program.
But the rest of the school didn't really impress me. It's a party school and while I want to party, I'm not sure if I want to go somewhere like that.

Should I go there?

Absolutely... I had the same thing (I went to Arizona State, the #1 party school as voted by Playboy... that was also a headline for our school newspaper, proving that we are proud of our reputation). I was in the engineering program, and it was tough in the very best way a school program can be tough. It was nice to know that if I needed a party to get my mind off things, I could knock on my neighbor's dorm door and find out where they were going. The bottom line is, if it is a good program, then it will attract good students, and those students can offer support to help you focus on your studies, and when you want to have fun, hey, you're in college, you're supposed to party!

My biggest tip is don't be afraid to make new friends in school. The classmates in your first classes, especially the classes in your major, will be there with you through the whole journey, and most of them are just as eager to make friends as you are.

Good luck!

From experience I can tell you that nearly every freshman wants to party. When he or she sees that college means work, they tend not to party quite as much.

I would do a bit more investigating. Does the school have proper accreditation? Who are some of the people who have graduated from their program? Go online and check out some of the other schools in your area. Although you don't say what state you are in or if you desire to live on campus, away from home.

Speaking of accreditation...Check with your state and make sure that every college you check into has that accreditation. Not all of them do, and alot of them create their own accreditation. Alot of those schools are good schools, but if you should change your mind, your credits will not transfer.

It depends how much you think the other students will affect your daily life. If you intend on being social, probably not a good idea to go there if you don't want to party hard. If you intend on focusing mainly on school, the other students shouldn't affect you too much, and it will definitely be worth it if the school has awesome facilities.

If you're worried about dorm life, find an apartment nearby instead.

I want to cry just reading your question... And I just want you to know that having a school with a reputation of being a "party school" really does change its students. After you get out, no matter if you made it through or not, you are still going to be a lot different than who you are now. =)
