You know, I keep wondering this myself, as I love to look up people I used to know.
Here's what I do:
First I Google their name. Then, I check myspace and facebook and search there. If you know where they graduated from, you can infiltrate their school webpage. I did find one page that told me all about the vitals of the guy I was searching for (parents names, etc.), but it really didn't tell me how to get a hold of him. Yahoo also allows you to search their email address, but it should be noted that not everyone yahoos. If you pay money, you can get a lot of info.
Why do you want to know? If you're stalking someone, bad! bad! shame on you! If you just want to know what happened to that one person you fell in love with so many years ago... well, if you see mine, tell him hi.
