I have a friend whose name is spelled Alana, and pronounced like Elena. An old classmate of mine spelled it Alana and pronounced it with the second A as in Anna. So, with that said, here are all the spellings with which I am familiar:
Alana, Alanna, Alannah, Alanah (and variants with two l's)
Elena, Elene, Elaina, Alaina, Alayna, Elayna, and in Germany, some of these variations can be written with an H in front, like Helene or Helena
Now, if you want to spell Alana in a brand new way, try these:
Aleina (pronounced like Alena)
Alana with an accent over the second "a".
Al'Ana or Al'Anna (for example, if named for Albert and Diana or Dianna).

You can double the 'l' or double the 'n'. But that's about it.
It's really annoying when people try to come up w/ some kind of unique (only in their opinion) ways to spell a name 'differently'...
