I am a beginner at this. I want to know if your supposed to eat the morning of the 1/2 marathon? If so, what would be good to eat, how much water should I drink? how much time before the race should I eat? etc. any help appreciated.

I am training for a half marathon right now... You want to eat a lot of carbs the night before (make sure you go to the bathroom before the race!) I would eat very little the morning of your race. Maybe a powerbar or two, but that is it.

You want to drink plenty of water, but you don't want to go to have to pee during the race... I ran in a cross country meet one time and just had to let it go... You don't want to do that.

I wish you the best of luck and I hope you love it... Let me know how it goes. I am running in mine in 138 days...

Good Luck!!!!

I would eat at least an hour before the race, light but that will hold you over. My first half I had a small bowl of oatmeal and a cup of coffee! I know it sounds weird, but I drink coffee every day so I didn't want to not have any right before a race that started at 5 am! If you usually have cereal, try that. Maybe take a piece of fruit with you, you usually end up waiting at the starting line for quite a while!! Good Luck!!

what time does the race start?

if its a morning race, I usually just eat a bowl of oatmeal and a banana about an hour before. dont eat anything heavy, or anything new. drink some water about an hour to half an hour before also.
during the run, dring a cup from every water station, even if you dont feel thirsty yet. if you have carbo gels, eat one about an hour into the race, that should carry you to the finish.

Carbs and lots of them. Pasta.

I'm not entirely sure as to when you should in relation to the beginning of the race, but I would imagine about an hour to two hours before hand.
