I believe a child should get spanked, but only as a last resort. I feel a child is never too old for a spanking. If he/she is 18/19 and still living under my roof, then I will spank!!

It depends on the child really.
There comes a point for each child where spanking just isn't necessary anymore.
My 7yr old...hasn't needed a spanking in 2 1/2 yrs.My 5 year old,over a year.My 3 year old just had his first a month ago.My 15 year old still receives them depending on the offense.My 16 year old...NEEDS ONE.lol
Always use spanking as a last resort and never spank your child when angry.Always speak to your child about why b4 spanking them.Never abuse your rights as a parent or your child.
(lol, sorry you can't comment on a topic like this w/o useing a warning label. Spanking is a very touchy topic and should always been done in moderation.)

yes i belive spanking a child is an acceptable form of discipline but every time a child makes a mistake he/she does not deserve a spanking. children are going to make mistakes but they dont deserve to be punished constantly. you need to decide if the crime fits the punishment and does the child understand the reason why they are being spanked. as for your other question my mom always told me a child is never to old for a spamking but hopefully as they get older they will make better choices and there wont be a need for them any longer.

i am 20and stil living with parents and since i remember i was spanked and i dont resent any of it.
when i was young i used to be spanked for the most silly stuff but as i grew older lets say 13 - 14 it was only for more serious stuff untill there was actually no need for it. if i **** up really bad i think i will be spanked still.
i repeat i have no resentment. i ve gorwn up to be more mature, more free thinking and more responsable than most my peers . i will probably spank my kids if i do not find anything lese that works better.

Well, I don't think it's "correct." There's no correct. There is only what works, for a given parent and a given child at a given moment.
That said, in general I'd say a child who is old enough to feel genuinely embarrassed without his/her pants on in public, is too old to be spanked on the buttocks.

You are never to old for a good butt warming. If you can't do what is right then you need a little something to wake you up and realize what you are doing. If you ask me it is the older ones that need it more because they should now better.

I think the perfect way to do it is: spank them when they do something bad, don't do it too much and when they start puberty -stop. They'll hate you and they'll be disobediant and most likely lie to you about everything. So yea, don't do it too much or they will rebel.

first of all, i don't believe in spanking. it's cruel and there are other forms of punishment. second, i say a child is too old for spanking the day they are flippin born!
