I think there were 7 Dragon Warrior games that you could play with the original Nintendo system from back in the day. I remember you had to fight slimes and then work up to harder "creatures" and in some of them you had to travel to different islands and stuff. I'm looking for anything similar to those games that are out now for a Playstation 2 gaming system.

Yes, Dragon Warrior I, II and III, they were released for the gameboy color a few years ago. There was also Dragon Warrior monsters in which you raised monsters and recently a new game was released called Rocket Slime. Dragon Warrior VII was on the playstation.

For something similar, Star Ocean 3: Till the end of time is by the same company, and Crono Trigger (on PS and SNES) characters were all designed by Akira Toriyama (he did the characters in Dragon Warrior series. There's a dragon warrior game out on the PS2, Dragon Warrior VIII, its pretty good.

I hear dragon quests 7 and 8 are similar. actually, most rpgs for the system have many mechanics borrowed in one form or another from the first two dragon warriors.

I disagree. i think of Nintendo is advertising and marketing to a diverse team of persons. They marketplace to those that don't play lots (older human beings, the very youthful, those no longer into the harshness of an Xbox or playstation , ect). They do properly with the aid of fact they are bringing hundreds of thousands of persons into the gaming worldwide that could in no way oftentimes interest. I even have the two and Xbox and a Wii and that i savor the two on diverse tiers. i like taking part in my Wii greater healthful, taking part in goofy occasion video games , or Wii activities with friends and my Xbox is for ore unmarried participant RPGs. i'm no longer large at FPS or GTA video games so i could extremely play those solo. The wii does not have a DVD participant to maintain expenditures down and who does not have a DVD play now a days? you may get one at walmart for $50. or you have yet another gaming gadget with a DVD participant in it.
