The French Manicure is a look that is very popular because it makes your nail look healthy and clean. It's suitable for all occasions since it is ultra natural. The French Manicure works well for nail lengths which are medium to long: 1/4" to 3/4.
here's the method i will suggest:
1.file and shape your nails. Tend to your cuticles, then wash and dry your nails completely.
2.Apply the base/top coat and let it dry.
Base coat is applied to protect your nails and to help prevent chipping.
3.Paint each nail tip white, extending the brush stroke from the top of the guide to the end of the nail. Take care not to get any white polish on the body of the nail below the guide. Let the tips dry.
4.Neutral polishes are very pale, sheer shades with a pink, beige or peach cast. Apply one or two coats of the neutral polish, letting the first coat dry before the second application. Finish with a thin layer of base/top coat.
If the classic French manicure is a little too conservative for your style, make your own color combination. Instead of neutral and white polishes, red with gold tips or white with silver tips or any combination you like. Give yourself time to practice. It may take awhile to get the hang of applying the tip guides. However practice will make you perfect. Here's a good example of French manicure kits that offer everything in one convenient box.

Here's how to do it:
1) Apply a clear base coat.
2)Apply a nail guide(those stickers), or if you have a steady hand, paint on a white tip, just to the tip of your nail. It can be straight across or following the natural curve of your nail.
3) Once that's dry, apply a very pale pink or a beige nail color over the entire nail.
4) Once that's dry, put on a top coat.
This takes a long time, so if you have a lot of time on your hands, this is something that you can do.

i used to use the guides from the drug store.. then i switched to scotch tape.. now i can do it free handed. i think that either of those will work really well. i always apply the white first because if you have any mess ups then it's easier to remove rather than trying to remove both the base and the white. then i use a clear top coat over it. i love french manicure and I'm never without one, unless my nails are too short. but i really like the scotch tape.. just don't paint too thick or it might come off with the scotch tape.. and make sure it dries! hope this helps! if not.. ah i apologize!

You should buy Broadway Nails Fast French Manicure Kit. They have these stickers to help you paint the white tips. I bought mines at walgreens. It's affordable rather than going to a salon.

Use a natural tone on the whole nail (optional) then use a stencil or a very thin tipped white polish to create a stripe that covers the tip part of your nail that isn't attached to your skin and cuticle.

there is usually a strip that u put for how long u want the tip.
If u want a real good frence manicure then i would go to ur local nail place and get a french. it doesn't cost much maybe $5.00 and it will last much longer

It is REALLY hard to do it yourself.
Go to a nail bar - it'll cost £7 to £10 depending where you are - not that much more than buying the kit from Boots.

like the ones with the white tips?
if so:
coat your nails with light pink or clear.
then *being very careful* paint the white on the tips.
unless you have a kit.
those work oh so much better!
hehe.
well ♥goodluck♥

Try these links - I started to try to explain how, but it's too complicated for me!
I find though, by putting the white tips on first and putting all the pink layers on over the white, they last much longer...
