i have a camper at a campground.i pay lot fees evey month.i moved my daughter was staying there.she owes back rent of 1 month.i received a letter from the campground owner stating that he was taking my camper for the back rent.he is trying to say that i abanded my camper wrong what type of lawyer should i retain to fight him or can i just go to small claims court

This would come under the head of "landlord-tenant" law. You can ask your local bar association for a referral to such an attorney, or there may be a local renters' rights association which can help you out. The information here is correct: he cannot simply seize your property claiming that you owe him money. You might even consider reporting this to the police as a theft of your camper, though they may not want to get involved.

He can't take your camper without a court order. You don't need a lawyer until you get a Summons - a letter won't do it. Just pay him the month's rent your daughter is behind.

You need an attorney that specializes in CIVIL law..Check in the yellow pages or if you have a friend who works in the court system they might tell you who is a successful attorney. There is also a listing in the atty. section that has a number that will make referrals.

he can't do that. he has to go through the legal process to repossess anything. take him to court first you will need to retain a real estate attorney that is knowledgeable in evictions.
