Anyone who goes after children is a concern to me because those individuals are beyond disgusting. But if we are only talking about adults who assault other adults then I would be less concerned if it were a woman because I havent heard of any lesbian rapings on the news. If it were a man, it would be another story because men are more likely to attack people and rape them on the street.

I think the general public are probably less tolerant of female sex offenders, that was a deciding factor behind the fact Myra Hindley was never released from prison, she wouldn't have got beyond the prison gates before a lynch mob attacked her. People, specifically parents expect women to be nurturing and gentle, a woman who molests a child or procures children for a male to molest is against the norm and people cannot accept it.

I certainly would be. However, if you want to know whether society as a whole cares about this, there is an extreme dangerous double standard here where female sex offenders are treated far more leniently than male offenders.

I suggest you have a look at this:

it is a collection of feeds on articles about female sex offenders and commentary on their leninent treatment and the excuses society offers for them from various sites on the Internet. It is continually updated.

I don't think so. It would depend on what she was in prison for. If it was violent and planned rape, then probably yes. If she was a pedophile since I don't have kids I probably would be less concerned but wouldn't like the idea of her around kids. I'd also feel like it was my job to sort of watch out for kids in the neighborhood if she was a pedophile, but I would feel that way around any pedophile.

I might actually be more worried if the other neighbors didn't seem worried about her. Most people don't think of women as sex offenders and if I was surrounded by a neighborhood of people who believed her harmless I would be a lot more fearful than in a neighborhood that was wary around a male who had committed the same crime.

I would be just as concerned about the safety of my children and others no matter if it was a male or female sex offender , Both are capable of harm to children

I would be similarly concerned, maybe even more so. A female sex offender might not groom children like a male sex offender would (female sex offenders generally tend to misinterpret the love they have for their children as a sexual act, and don't generally tend to go out and groom children outside of their household). But I would still be worried anyway.

No. A sex offender is a sex offender is a sex offender. It also depends on their victim of choice. Some male sex offenders choose pre adolescent female, others males. The same goes for female sex offenders. Always know where your children are.

Depends on the offense. If it was juvenile molestation, I'd be just as upset with male or female. If it was because a17 year old had sex with a 15 year old and got caught, I'd be less concerned regardless of their sex. Like everything, its a matter of degree

I would be equally concerned because sex offenders usually prey on the younger ones who aren't able to protect themselves or know right from wrong.
