Katrina is only one of many disasters that affect many people. The only thing one can do is accept what has happened to them and move on. It is no body's fault and no one can bail you/them out or solve this for you/them. Disaster victims must take stock of their lives, decide what's important to them, and work on that. Just like before or maybe better than before. Living near the coast is not safe in the current climate. Move inland and uphill, get a job, a new place and live grateful for your life.

Before Katrina hit, New Orleans had the highest welfare rate in the United States. Those people were professional bums and have used Katrina for sympathy since the day the levies broke, and no matter what we give them, they will always scream for more, and say we have not done enough while they do nothing for themselves.
You must be a Demoncrat who voted for Kerry.
And it's all Bush's fault...lol

As long as our government closes its eyes to what is going on in the country...they will. Its sad that all our money is going elsewhere and we can't help people in our back yard. Whether its Katrina victims or elderly people who are not eating so they can pay for medicine...it's attrocious and needs to stop. Washington should be ashamed of themselves.

What about all those credit cards!!!??? Did you read the news last year?
Poor, poor, poor Katrina victims. Boohoo. I guess they should have spent their "entitlements" better. But then again, you have to look at the average "victim" of Katrina to understand why they have not lifted themselves up.

How can people tell us to move on when there is no possible way right now. Some people haven't even gotten their insurance checks. WE LOST EVERYTHING!! Did you see the Spike Lee documentary "When the Levee's Broke"? Well...it was like that, but 5 times worse!
People who say that we need to get over it can shove it up their ***.
I'm not just saying this because I wanna be lazy, I was a fortunate one and I have managed to get back into a house now, and have a decent job since the storm.

If it were me, I would have pulled myself up by my own boot straps by now. Those who are STILL sitting around with their thumbs up their butt waiting for a handout just MAY have to wait forever, or until Hell freezes over.....whichever comes first.

He who thinks of himself as a victim, will be a victim forever.
