i got an old labtop from a friend. its an old compaq pc. it has no operating system. when i try to install win98 the cd drive acts up like its having a hard time reading it and then just gives up. i though it was the disk so i made a copy and got same results.but if i use my xp or 2000 disk {which the pc doesnt support}it work.is there any way to fix this?

u acn change the cd drive if u can get one or if u have a floppy drive u can use a windows 98 start-up disk to start the installation and continue it with the cd from there on
