Usually on an invitation to an event it will specify what the 'dresscode' is. 'Dresscode' means the suggested clothes to wear depending on what event you are attending.
For example, a black tie event usually means dress smartly, for men wear a black jacket (like a suit jacket) and black smart trousers with a bow tie(alternatively, a normal neck tie,not necessarily black) and for the women,a dress(usually below the knee). Altough, the recent trend for women over the Christmas and New Year Party season is to wear tuxedos.
''A lounge suit is another name for business suit and usually indicates a semi-formal function. A darker suit with a white shirt and tie are appropriate.
On some occasions, if the function is an informal outdoor afternoon affair, then the lounge suit can be more casual, lighter colored, and worn without a tie. But, when in doubt, always dress more formally.
For women, a lounge suit normally indicates a shorter length dress or outfit as opposed to a formal floor length gown.''
Good staples to have are a smart suit jacket with matching trousers, below the knee dress, smart shoes, high heel shoes and shirt.

Some invitations will specify the type of dress expected - eg smart dress or casual dress. Men cannot go far wrong with a smart shirt and tie. Take a jacket along to most places - you do not need to wear it but be prepared, and hang it over the back of a chair. Trainers and jeans are never smart. Save them for weekends and home wear only.

Black ties are associated with funerals. for a dinner dance why not have a black bow tie handy.

A lounge suit is an informal suit for evening wear. It should be comfortable. You could substitute it for a velvet jacket and smart trousers. Chinos are a safe bet for casual wear. Try Gap for some other great casual looks.

A well cut coat is a great addition to any wardrobe for colder days.

is certain kind of dress that you are required to use for an special occasion, place or situation. For example some schools, work places, churches etc don't allow people wearing clothing they thing is unappropriated. In some occasion you have to wear certain type of clothing, like in a funeral, a formal wedding, a opera concert. A dress code tell you what you can wear, and what you can't because it can be offensive, informal or dangerous. Some of them are stupid and some have a real purpose.

Always have a simple black dress, or two. Black tie is very formal: tuxedo, evening gown. Decorations for what? Do you mean accessories? I have no idea what a lounge suit is.

dress code means that you are permitted to wear only certain things.. my school has a dress code.. but its not real strict..

here are some of our dress code rules::

1.) when your hands are straight down to your side your skirts or shorts have to be longer than where your longest finger touches
2.) no facial jewelry
3.) nothing that will distract your classmates (ex: NO: green hair, purple hair, blue hair, black lipstick, etc..)
4.) no chains or spikes

I dont exactly understand your question so I hope this helped a little bit..

I'll put it the simple way...

You must wear certain clothes and colors.

Thats it! if they say " you have to wear black pants and a blue or pink shirt" then that's what you HAVE to wear.
