This is a personal opinion completely.

The thing I see is that a minor female could get pregnant and has the obvious visible loss of virginity. Neither of these two things affect a minor male victim.

I would guess that when lawmakers and community leaders originally thought about what to do with this particular form of abuse that they only considered an older male seeking a younger female.

I know this isn't the case in all circumstances, but men are so much more overpowering. They are typically bigger and stronger and more controlling. Honestly, I don't know any guys in all my years that wouldn't have given their right arm to have sex at age 13 with an older woman. It seems to be their dream. It's different for us girls. We want to lose our virginity to the man of our dreams, that we will marry and be with until we are 90. When we are younger though, we are too immature to realize that the guy we think is our dream guy is just a guy who wants to get in our pants, not marry us. Yes, we should all be treated the same, but it will never be that way.

Social doule standard! If a Father finds out his minor son had relations with an older woman, he would give him a high five. Where as if that same Father discovers the same to be true about his minor daughter, he would hunt down and kill the older man.

You don't mess with Daddy's little girl!

I guess the truth be told most men thinking about their youth probably had one or two teachers they thought were hot. Therefore we don't think the psychological effect on these young men would be traumatizing. In fact it might be the opposite. Really if I think about it, it's probably the truth. That doesn't make it right or legal and the teacher should be prosecuted & never allowed to teach again.

It's a double standard. An older man seducing a young woman/girl is considered predatory, while most men consider a teen boy lucky if an older woman seduces him. Not fair, but that is often how it's viewed.

Because it's usually men who dish out the punishment, and what straight man doesn't secretly wish he would have been seduced by a sexy, older woman when he was a boy?

The reason that women get less punishment is that men young and all want it!
What man when he was a child dreamt about doing there teacher in a sexual manner!...All have!

I thinks its the silly *** grin on the boys face. But on a serious note, there does seem to be discrimination in this regard. If the woman was ugly and fat, would she have to go to prison? The wrong message is being sent out on this issue.

Because men who have sex with minors are pedophiles.

Women who do it are angels. Besides, any teenage boy who would rat on an older woman who offered him sex is a freaking idiot.

It's a delightful double standard that women should appreciate.

The underlying societal norm is to assume that if a young woman is "raped" that she was forced into it, possibly because she was threatened or not as strong as her "rapist", but if a young man is "raped" the assumption is that he probably agreed to it because young men are horny and go after that. The exception is much younger boys and girls, I think those would be judged the same because they are too young to have those feelings.
