I know they like warm places (like electrical/phone wall plugs. So I've been leaving my microwave unplugged until I need to use it. I thought it was working as I didn't see them dying under the microwave. But this morning as I finished warming my coffee when I opened the door, there were half a dozen babies and I saw a larger one in the door latch!!!
My question (finally) if I leave the micro unplugged, can I use a spray or some kind of insecticide inside the crevaces of the microwave?

Those nasty little critters...They like to live where its dark and usually only come out at night. I really doubt that they would live in the microwave. It would be better to leave the door open with the little light..they don't like light. Never leave food sit around or dirty dishes sitting around as that will draw the miserable pests. Keep the stove top and counter tops clean. You can of course use the bomb for them.If you do get all pets out of the house and if you have an aquarium ...even if it has a lid...put towels all over the tops and down the sides. The filter and bubbler will give them enough air. At the farm and garden store you can get this powder called Rotonone...its derived from a certain root. Put it behind and under you fridge, same with the stove. Behind the counters and cupboards put the rotonone on a sheet of paper and put the sheet at the edge and dump it behind the whole lengh of the counters. Some in the window sills and out on theporch under things. It seldom bothers pets as you can also dust your pets with it. I have also used it on chickens for mites and in the chicken nests. I have never used it on parakeets or other house birds. Oh ya put some under your microwave. I used it for years out on the farm and whle dusting things you inadvertently breath in some even with a mask...well I am still kicking and the lunga are great.

Unplugging the microwave....just does that!! If you have that much of an issue with roaches, I would suggest getting the home fumigated professionally or put off roach bombs and leave the home for a day. If they are in your microwave, it is a sure bet they are everywhere!! No Ill intended here, but I have never had roaches or their babies in my microwave or oven for that matter. I have lived in FL, GA, MD and now Hawaii. Trust me they are everywhere.....fumigate the whole place!!

You need to seal around your microwave, if you can, so they cannot get into it. Then clean is thoroughly. You obviously have roaches throughout the building you are in so I would try to put traps around. They are night critters and do not like the light.

If you live in a house then the whole house needs to be fumigated. If you are in an apartment try to get the landlord to get rid of them.

Good luck

No, don't use anything in the microwave. Throw it out. It's not the heat they are after, it's cover. Eliminate all clutter on your counters, use a bug bomb, and vigilantly spray all cracks and crevices.

Your best bet is the exterminator and ask him what he thinks you need to get rid of. If you see them in your microwave they are literally every where whether you have seen them or not.

Probably need to get a new one. Cockroaches like to nest in household appliances whether they are being used or not. You need to set off the roach "bombs" in your house, or call an exterminator.

sweetie, the best thing for you to do is get rid of the microwave
and get some "raid" gel from the hardware store to get rid of the roaches. I know it may hurt you to throw your microwave away,
but it is the only way to get rid of them. remember..... where there
is one, you will most likely find one thousand.......... good luck!!!!!
also remember to clean the entire kitchen before applying the gel.
the gel works wonders...........
