Hello all,

I come from an East Indian family that lives abroad. My mother often cooks Indian food which involves cooking of a lot of onions and other spices and herbs initially. As a result, there always is an awful smell that diffuses throughout the whole house. This smell is not just of onions but also of the spices used. In our language, it is called the smell of "tarka" (though, I may have spelled it wrong). Unfortunately, this smell has become a part of our house and can easily be recognized when entering our home. Does anyone know or have any ideas of removing this smell.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

S.M.

SET SOME VINEGAR OUT TO ABSORB THE SMELLS AND OR TRY USING CANDLES. THEY REALLY HELP WITH DIFFERENT SMELLS. BAKING SODA ALSO HELPS, YOU CAN PUT IT RIGHT ON THE FLOOR AND VACUUM IT UP.

get an Ionic Pro Turbo from Walmart. cost about $180.00. This will remove the smell.

I've had a similiar situation and the Ionic Pro has worked fine to help clean the air of food/cooking smell.

i'm white enough to hurt your eyes, but i love the taste and the smell of indian food.. i wonder why you would want to get rid of it...ok try boiling a little vinegar in water ..if that doesn't get rid of it leave a small bowl with water and vinegar in it, out on a table or something.. if this food is prepared often enough you may have to just learn to like it like i do. .. :)

P bear is a nut...a funny one, but he is right!! Use vinegar. Either boil it or put it through the coffee maker (much quicker). And the smell will go away while the cofee machine gets cleaned too! :)
