We have a Russian Tortoise, and my 13 year old daughter is constantly carring him in her laps with a blanket like a little baby. He seems to be okay with it, but is it healthy for him, can he get sick from her always carrying him?

I am not an expert on tortoises, but I have them. They live outdoors and hibernate when the time comes. Show her to follow the tortoise around rather than her take him to many different places. I think if she watches him do what he wants to do she will learn to respect his kind and enjoy them as nature intended them to live. You have a very caring daughter.

Tortoises do not particularly like being carried and handled- it causes a certain degree of stress.

She needs to learn to carry it like a cat- always let it leave if it wants and become sensitive to its desires.

No as long as she isn't shoving her hands in it's face or anything. If the turtle lives by itself it is better if you hold him so it doesn't feel lonely or left out
