My hamster is a male, and I got another male hamster but I also have a female hamster who's been living with my current male hamster before I got the other male hamster. Before I got the new male hamster, the other male hamster never wanted to be near the female and they wouldn't have babies. I wanted to sell them for cash.

So I got another male, and I put him in with the other male so they could ge to know each other. And then all of a sudden my first male hamster started humping the new male hamster. He started getting on him and making weird sounds, and then started rolling around with him.

I think my hamster is a homosexuale. Is this possible?

WTF? So he COULD be gay? Do I have to buy a hamster dildo for him now? I think I will have to sell him.

No, animals are not gay because being gay is a choice. And animals dont think like that.It could be fighting the other male because it in its area. Hamsters might fight like that. Maybe its playing like puppies play wrestle around.
Hampsters may have a mating season like other animals and only want to get it on during certain times of the year.

Homosexuality in mammals is common and generally a adolescent, temporary behaviour. They are a misfiring of reproductive urges- sometimes with added psychological reasons.

First is 'practice'- sometimes involuntary due to hormones but sometimes because many mammal females have no sexual urge- the sex is 'forced' and hence the male needs to practice to succeed with the female.

Second is dominance- by humping the new male he is making his rival 'like the female' hence asserting himself as top dog.

Third is simply fun- the other male probably smells more familiar and safe. In time the full spectrum of urges will compel him to seek the female.

Or most probably a combination of all these. Permanent homosexuality would most likely be a genetic or nutritional deficiency which are both much more rare especially for rodents.

Sure it's possable.

Animal homosexuality (along with bisexuality) is not at all uncommon, entire books have been written on the subject. The only specific mention of hamsters I know of is female same sex mounting, however I recall reading of a pair of male hedgehogs who were mated for life.

It doesn't seem to be a subject that the zoology community seem keen to acknowledge, in that many zoologists seem unaware of it, despite numerous scientific documentations of it. It should also be noted that in many cases, since it is difficult for humans to assertain gender of certain animals, gender is assumed from sexual acts until evidence to the contrary is found, which in some cases results in the rather bizare situation that the same individual animal is observed as being both male and female. (Not that this is impossable, some species of fish change genders during their lives, but it doesn't tend to occur within birds)

Courtship behaviours of same-sex animal couples often differ from the courtship behaviours within opposite-sex couples, Certain ones having specific names. Necking in giraffes, for example, is a male/male only courtship ritual, where they rub their neck against each other. Often one or both parties will develope erections during necking, and it sometimes leads to male/male mounting.

Also - why would you sell him just because he exhibits homosexual behaviours?

There are no homohamsters. If he was homo, he would be receptive to the humping of other male hamsters. I bet the one he humps doesn't like it.
Homo advocates have been lying for years saying that they have found homo animals, but I've spent lots of time in the woods, and have yet to see a buck deer that wants it in the rear.
Ain't happening...

I think your hamster is trying to secure his position as the Alpha hamster to the other male. This means he wants to be the BOSS

There have been studies that have shown that homosexuality occurs naturally in all species of the animal kingdom so it's possible that your hamster is gay.

It sure is possible. Since homsexuality is something people are born with, it is definitely possible for animals to be homosexual as well, it is not just limited to humans. I think when people start to realize that it is possible for animals to be homosexual, they might realize that it is a trait none of us can choose. Animals only do what is natural.

In the animal kingdom most animals do this to show dominance, however if your hamsters are rainbow colored then maybe.
