Im not sure if this family has the "normal" problems family usually have, or this family is just really messed up.
My husband's grandfather's mother was neglectful and obsessive, the father was alcoholic and physically abusive. The grandfather grew mistrusting woman so he became "macho" and has some hate towards women so he married a woman who was pretty passive, she was also pretty obsessive, the grandfather is kinda controlling and has an addiction to cigars. They had 3 children (my husband's mom, aunt and uncle) my husband's mom (my mother in law) is kinda obsessive, she buys compulsively, is kinda controlling, and gets irritated easily, her sister is very nervous, she needs to take anxiety medicine, the uncle is alchoholic.
Well, it sounds sucky but all of this people also have a good share of good qualities.
My mother in law, father in law and husband insist that their situation is just "reality" and that I have a rose colored view of life.

I would say we all suffer from dysfunctional homes in one way or the other. Even if its not abuse or addiction, its something else. I guess you can say its reality. I dont know any beaver cleaver families. Do you ?

Not that dysfunction is normal but yeah it does seem like alto of people have these same or similar problems. Don't worry about it though. Just be happy you came from a great family. Learn from each other.

The answer is simple to me. What was and is lacking is good Christian moral values. Not the false Christianity that so many people see and express, but true, deep devotion to God, and a desire to live according to the will of Jesus Christ and his prescription for happiness. Life can be richly fulfilling and deeply satisfying, not to mention much happier when this plan for life is followed.

Girl want did you married into. Do you think your husband not like that? If he grew up like that don't you think he kind of like that. To help your husband you need to move far away from his family. Or he will and your children will be a product of them. That's a circus

There not such a thing as a normal family. Almost Evey family is dysfunctional in one way or another. It is just no one hears about it so you think your family is the only one that is.

every family has certain disfuntions, just like nobody's perfect. Sounds like you judge your husbands family and not your own.I did the same against my wifes family not realizing until later in life my family was extra screwed up .

Dysfunctional. Look at all the substance abuse and poor self esteem.
