I took the SAT (a practice SAT) when I was in eighth grade because I was on high honor roll with distinction (average of 95 or above) and was invited to take it. I got an 1100. I got 10 points lower on the math (I had only had 3 months of Algebra one, and no geometry or Algebra two, so I didn't know the formulas) and 40 points higher on the english. Overall, I did better than the average senior who took this test. What score should I be aiming for in order to get a really good scholarship to a good music, science, or engineering college? This will be after algebra one and two, geometry, and pre-calculus.

haha, at my highschool a good score is above 2250
you should get a 800 in math if you are done with pre-calc
and about 650 for the other ones

1100 isn't that great for 8th grader, i got 1300 when i was an 8th grader and i only had like 3 years of english

if you want a really good scholarship.. depends on where you go,
scholarship in ivy leagues would be like at least 2350 and above.
for not so well know private schools thats trying to grab good students from better schools with money would be easier? more likw 2100s?
but GPA and extracurricular activities counts A LOT for scholarship, and your family income comes in play too

Thats a pretty good score for 8th grade. I took it in 8th grade too and I think i got like 1190 or something like that, and now i'm ranked 6th out of 360 in my class. The SAT changed now, and has a writing part so it is out of 2400... but a good score would probably be about in the 1900-2000 range, and that would probably be good enough for a scholarship. Try to be well rounded in other things...that seems to be more important that SAT scores for getting scholarships. Good luck!

Its out of 2400, but you probably got 1100 cause your still in 8th grade and you havent had all the mandatory courses tested on the SAT, a 1600 is average, so aim for higher, good luck.

For science and engineering, unless you're from a really low socio-economic group, I'd aim for around 2100-2400 for a scholastic scholarship.

Don't worry too much about what you got in 8th grade. I took a practice test too back then and the score I got when it actually counted was a lot higher due to increased knowledge and some test prep.

you sound very smart, but dont let all this getting into college take you away from enjoying highschool. 1100 is a very good score for 8th grade. i got 1630 which is dead average this year.

dont worry about your score or where you get in. you will have agreat college experience no matter where you go. there are only slight differences between most colleges. And you definetly shouldnt be thinking about that yet. Many times parents are a huge factor in the students stress on college worries. goodluck and enjoy the rest of 8th grade and highschool.

once you're graduating till now 2012, maximum faculties will evaluate in basic terms your interpreting and math scores which may be 1120 out of 1600. however, after 2012, faculties will start to look in any respect 3 parts of the SAT which might pass the suited score as much as 2400 and make your score 1620. wish i helped.

i took the old version in 8th grade and got 1160. now i'm a senior w/ 2330 in the new version.
frankly, if you're still a middle schooler or freshman you're worrying way too early. with all the prep of additional math / english courses your score will go up automatically. mine did and i didn't have to study hardcore like parents tell you to.
for a "really good scholarship" the higher the better. but whatever, enjoy life now.

out of 1600? or 2400? i'll assume 1600 because even though they have the essay now, they're not counting it.
if you wan't a full ride, i'd say you'd probably need at least a 1400 to get a good scholarship in a good school.
if you're looking to go to an ivy league school or something like that you'll probably want to take the SAT II as well.
it depends on what school you want to go to though.
the school i applied to - you only needed like a 950 to get in.
so more than likely i will get some sort of scholarship because i exceed their expectations.
hope that helps.

A score of 1600 or higher. The highest you can get is 2400 which is what the whole SAT is out of. Good Luck!

a good score is a score that will get you where you want to go
don't stress on it
just do your best
SAT is only a score you will have to see once for the rest of your life
