A die is a tool used in the manufacturing industry to create a wide variety of products and components. From a simple paper clip, to complex pieces used in the latest cutting edge technology, dies are involved in producing products we use in everyday life and are manufactured by Tool and Die Makers. Then there is a dye and this of course is the colour that's put into fabrics and yarns, etc. And I do believe that those above who agreed that die was the singular of dice are right! Happy New Year!

Die is singular, dice is plural. Example: you can play with one die or many dice. Another definition for die is "an engraved metal piece used for impressing a design onto a softer metal, as in coining money." Dye is the substance used to color materials such as hair dye.

Die is singular, dice is plural ... although that's honoured more in the breach than in the observance.

I'm starting to hear 'medias' and 'stratas,' so help me.
