I agree with most of what vip hockey said but I would add a few things.
1. Run through the tackle. That means run as hard as you can into the player you are trying to tackle. Cause a COLLISION. Watch an NFL or college game. Usually the safeties are not physically big, but they are big hitters. They do exactly what I referenced above - cause a collision. Separate someone from the ball. Make a play.
2. Wrap up. Wrap your arms around the player you are trying to tackle and do not let go. This works especially well combined with what vip wrote. Wrapping your arms around a players legs can be hard because his are probably stronger than your arms.Go for his hips/waist and wrap up
3. Hit with attitude. I don't mean talk smack afterward - but hit hard. - everytime.

Do what your coach will advise....shoot for the waist! First of all if he is stronger than you the legs are the most powerful part of the body so unless you catch him with his feet close together then he will easily kick free from you. Plus if you aim at the waist you are aiming at the one part of the body that cant shift easily(you can get deked very easy with a leg or shoulder shift). It is easiest to wrap up a player around the mid section and if you arent strong enough to pull him down he cant shake free and the other guys will finish him off.
