I'm trying to define the term that can be used when describing someone who isn't of "the masses". We tend to view "the masses" {rightly or wrongly} as the general populace, aka sheep. They don't think for themselves, and anything that is not of "the norm" is generally shunned. If anyone would have a good term, to describe someone who is "different" from the masses, either they are enlightened, or are recognized as having unique views that don't fit with the general populace, etc. Some who stands out "in the crowd", etc... Hope this makes sense.

genius = dictionary term means intelligence. close. but not exact: you can be of "NOT the masses", and not be very smart ;)
