No. You can file yourself...this is called filing pro se. You need to be very careful ... bankruptcy isn't a quick fix...it will stay with you for 10 years on your credit bureau report and may keep you from being employed in certain fields!
You do need to discuss this with an attorney (and no, I'm not an attorney!) so that you will understand the real picture.
Why don't you contact each of your creditors and try to negotiate a work out plan. This will allow you to pay your bills but maybe they can extend the term (repayment time) or lower the interest rate.

if you get the proper forms and know how to fill them out, file them and do the necessary court procedings then you may not need a lawyer. However I think that would not be wise. To make sure your rights are protected I think a lawyer would be necessary.

Yes, you need a lawyer, they are many forms involved and needed to be filed with the court. Some lawyers have a flat fee.
