Well I have one. My husband of 6 years. We live in a small southern town so while putting up with the racial bullshit that he encounters each day, he continues to work daily, he keeps himself out of trouble and off of paper, a hard feat for any black male age 20 to 50, he helps to raise MY children by another man, and to me he is a success story. THAT my dear is a strong black man!

I'm also blessed enough to be married to one! He has a job, takes care of my son whose own father hasnt been seen in a year, respects me, my family and his own.
My brother's and uncles are also strong black men. This is a generic term coined to mean any black man who handles his business. Takes care of his responsibilities (whatever they may be) and has respect for self and others. He can be college or street educated, what matters is how he carries himself.

I'd say that a strong Black man is someone who has inner strength as well as outer strength. Takes responsibility for himself and his family. Takes responsibility for becoming financially self-reliant through education and hard work. Someone who avoids alcohol and drugs.

i don't think the word strong should apply. how about just be a MAN. you don't get a gold star or a cookie for taking care of YOUR child, keeping a job, paying YOUR bills etc. so what is a strong black man but just a man?
