Get two different sponges, say a dried natural one and a rubber one. Cut them to the same geometric size, say three inches cubed.

Get two containers which weigh the same and place in each a similar amount of water. Weigh them to ensure the amount of water in each is equal.Tie each sponge to a piece of string and immerses in the liquid. Leave for a few minutes until the sponges have absorbed their optimum amount of water. lift out the sponges at the same rate to avoid spillages back into the containers. Weigh the containers and see which weighs least. The sponge that was used on that container is, therefore, the most absorbent.
