Most likely no. The number of programs that can be recorded is dependent on 2 factors,

1 - The number of tuners/receivers/decoders
2 - The storage medium

In order to record 2 programs at the same time you would first have to have multiple tuners/receivers/decoders, each tuner would then be able to tune to a different channel. So if you had 3 tuners/receivers/decoders you would have the possible capability to record 3 channels.

The second area of concern is your storage device. In general a DVD would be limited to recording one program at a time, since it is single threaded in this case. But if your DVD recorder had a Hard Drive that it initially recorded to then burned the program to DVD it would be more likely.

Your best bet is to get one of the two tuner TIVOs (http://www.tivo.com/2.0.boxes.step.1.asp) or build your own PVR with multiple tuners (http://www.byopvr.com/). Personally I went with the second option, built a PVR with 3 tuners and 800GB of HD space, so I can easily record 3 programs at the same time.

Depending on the brand and provider. We have comcast as our internet provider and have a DVR recorder through them. This recorder lets us tape 2 channels at once and while you're taping you can actually watch something taped earlier.

I assume you meant DVR (Digital video recorder) and they can do that only if it has two tuners. Comcast offers a cable box with a DVR that will record two shows at the same time. You can even watch a third program you previously recorded.

On mine, you can record two at a time, but you can only flip between the two channels.

I think yes because you can certainly do this on sky+ box so i think it should work on dvd recorders with hard drive.
