I think it might play a role, but I think its the way the question is worded that gets more answers, and the mood of the answerer.

I think it does, just look at how many answers the ones with the XXX rated avatars get for simple questions!!

I tend to click on q's that have a cool picture. I don't really like avatar's, but it doesn't mater THAT much!
