It's a good idea to wait about 6 weeks to allow your body to heal from the baby. Otherwise you will be very sore.

Well,, if you had an episiotomy you could further traumatize the area.... no fun. You could also get pregnant again, however unlikely if you are breastfeeding.... nature does not want your body routing resources to a getstational baby while breasfeeding a new baby. Also, your cervix does not shut instantly, so there are infection issues there....allthough I don't know off-hand how long closing takes. I know a lot of people that waited all of about 10 days,,, nothing bad happened,,, but NO good reason to push your luck imho.

Whether you give birth vaginally or by C-section, your body will need time to heal. Many doctors recommend waiting six weeks before resuming intercourse. This allows time for the cervix to close, postpartum bleeding to stop, and any tears or repaired lacerations to heal. Not to mention you can become pregnant right away again.

Hold off for 6 weeks and/or use reliable birth control. You are much more likely to get pregnant again during this period.
