You call the police and let them deal with him. I would get his license plate and a description of the car he/she is driving. If he drives off and you are on a cell I might follow at a distance giving the police his/her location.
Remember your safety first. He/she can also be trying to lure you into his/her vehicle. Drunks also tend to have mood swings that can turn violent. Never drive anyone home unless you know them very well.

You could try to stop him, but drunks are hard to reason with. You could offer to give him a ride. It would probably be safer for everyone if you called 911 and informed the police. No one wants drunks on the road.

I just call the police and have him stopped. I don't feel like arguing with drunks.

You have to because if he gets in a car and drives and kills someone, if anyone knows you let him go you are an accessory to murder. And if injures himself, funnily enough, you can be done for manslaughter.

I would only try that with someone I knew!!
Never with a stranger
that would be asking for trouble telling a stranger what to do!
