Rafael Benitez has insisted he has no intention of selling Peter Crouch and bringing Valencia striker David Villa to Anfield in the January transfer window.
Benitez said: "I can be very clear - we do not want to buy Villa and we do not want to sell Peter Crouch. Villa is a fantastic player but we are not interested in buying him now."

"He is working hard and the only thing you can do with a striker in this situation is continue to support him. If he continues to work as he has been doing, I will be happy.

"You can never say you are really pleased with the strikers because it is important to take your chances. But the important thing to say to all of your strikers is just to keep going."

Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder has played down his chances of landing England striker Peter Crouch in the January transfer window.

He said: "Someone knows more than I do. As far as I am concerned, there has not been a deal even spoken about.

"Secondly, I really hate managers talking about other managers' players.

"Peter Crouch is a Liverpool player and I do not think Rafael Benitez would appreciate me talking about Peter Crouch when he is not a Newcastle player.

"At this moment in time, it is pure speculation and I would be surprised if he ended up becoming a Newcastle player.

"I said a month ago when I was asked, he is very talented and certainly deserves his place in the England team, in my opinion.

"But anything outside that would be unfair to Liverpool and the manager there."

I don't know if it is true or not. The transfer market will be the only way to find out. I think it is more of a rumour to enhance sombody's fee and make the football community sit up and watch to see if anybody takes the bait. Crouch has a place in the Liverpool squad while David Villa is a Valance player until he decides he wants a move.

Of course the new castle coach is an admirer of Crouch and has revealed that if Liverpool decide to release him they would be ready to negotiate, but it's not confirmed he'll be released just because he does not earn the starting line anymore.

Chelsea have expressed their interest in buying Villa and Benitez is also an admirer of him but Liverpool have not expressed anything like buying him only the coach himself. If any of the two clubs get him I'd be glad because I adore the English Premier League.

Thanx!

I even have had this argument with many a Liverpool fan yet they constantly settle directly to forget relating to the information, the figures are there for all to make certain that Liverpool DO have the financial capability to compete with guy Utd the adaptation is guy Utd have a supervisor who can spend it wisely the place as Liverpool have a supervisor who will deliver in an entire communities worth of mediocre gamers who are not stable sufficient for a Championship factor no longer to show Liverpool each season! All Liverpool followers ever say is "yet guy Utd spent over the possibilities on gamers like Rooney, Rio, and so forth" yet what they do no longer look to comprehend is it particularly is precisely that rationalization why we've been effective, Liverpool will spend 50/60 million a season on 6/7 gamers the place as guy Utd will spend the same on 2 gamers who will definitely advance the squad! If Liverpool have been extra decide on with their purchases and easily signed one or 2 famous person gamers each season then they'd definitely start to compete, and to returned up that factor 2 of Rafa's maximum effective signings have been Torres and Mascherano who fee around 24 and 19 million respectively!

Peter Crouch is certainly on the market should Rafa be able to bring in Villa, however doing it in January doesn't seem terribly likely as Villa will be cup-tied in European competition.

Benitez said he has no plans of selling Crouch. Additionally, Roeder said that while he would love to buy Peter Crouch, he felt it would be disrespectful to Benitez to discuss any hopes. He also did not think Benitez would let him go.
