I personally LOVE horror movies, but don't let my kids or any visiting ones see them.

The thing about many horror movies that you have to be concerned about is the sexual content of them. So you may not mind junior watching a hack and slash, but what about when Cindy Lou and John Boy start doing the humpty hump with each other or suck the skin off each other's face in a long kiss.

Kids at that age definitely don't need to be seeing anything sexual.

I recommend you (if you're a parent) watch the horror film first and then decide for yourself if the content will be ok for the 14 year old.

Depends on the kids. Also depends greatly on how the material is presented as well.
Some of Grimms Fairy Tales were totally spooky. As were some material in the early 1800s. However, as far as I am aware, Ghost tales, and other "horror" tales have been part of kids fare for centuries. Most of them are clearly delineated as "not Real" however, and whilst they might spook a child, the tale was ( mostly) cautionary. Its also a way of dealing with issues that spook us in real life. The clear demarcation between real and unreal is what makes the difference. I have met some people who get spooked by The Bible book of Job, also Judges 11:30-39, and The Book of Revelation. All depends on your grasp on reality. Plus jumping out from anywhere can scare as well, example I think of is from AMITYVILLE HORROR where "George" comes back from checking the boathouse and a cat jumps up on the window sill. When I first saw that film, the whole row of people in front of me jumped up... a total hoot !!! :-)

Movies don't make kids go out and do bad things. Music doesn't make kids go out and do bad things. If your child understands that the movies are not real and that the story is made up and they don't have nightmares from scary movies then let them watch. My son is 10 and has been watching scary movies all of his life because he is smart enough to understand that they are made up and acted out. I don't let him watch sexual content because he is obviously too young for that but horror films are ok by me as long as he doesn't have nightmares. I wouldn't say horror movies are good for anyone but if a 14 year old wants to watch then ok. People need to stop blaming movies and music for the screwed up youth. Blame the parents lack of parenting.

I hate horror movies
I am not an adrenlin junkie. But my guy loves them, he does not like slasher movies though he finds them past the limit.
He likes scarey movies like the old mummy, frankenstein, wolfman, American Werewolf in London,Critters, Gremelins, all the Alien movies. stuff like that.

What?!?! I am presuming you are asking for a recommendation of a horror movie suitable for a 14-yr.-old. Regarding that question, my answer would be "The Grudge", "Saw" (whichever one of them), or "The Ring".

it first really depends on the synopsis and it depends on the title a lil bit too....cuz if itz something called like hell boy then ummmm...definitely inappropriate!!!! but it all depends on how a child/teen will react on watching the horror film!!!
