Lmbo, i dunno, i do that too.I think it is because you are not used to the lights being off.............but honestly...i think it is because you are bored.
You think, well...crap..the lights are out, i guess all i can do it wait this out.
Then later w/o thinking, you figure.....Hmmmm, i think will make a sandwich.....watch some tv, then maybe check my e-mail.

I miss the tv right away and go thru withdrawal! I take electricity so for granted.
Have to put this in....If I'm alone and it's dark outside, I go for the candles and flashlight right away and light as many candles that I can find. It's very creepy when the lights go out and your home all alone and it's nighttime. That happened one night when my husband was at work and it creeped me out. I'm a big baby.

The simple answer is probably because a)you're only human b) you are curiousc ) you keep hoping they're all back on again. The deep psychological answer would probably be that we are out of our comfort zone, that we are uneasy at the interruption to the norm,that we are fearful of change and uneasy that things will never be the same!!!

I think it's to track down if the power outage was just in one room or part of the house as opposed to the entire house, then if it is, you can just check the circuit breaker instead of tripping over everything trying to find the flashlight.

its a human habit, i think we all do that at one point or another.
We just had the power go out a couple of weeks ago here at my job, all of a sudden, it was quiet so we wanted to turn the radio on, wanted to play games on the computer, u know what i mean. . .it's funny how we humans are

Its just one of those things we all do. I try to turn stuff off so when the power finally comes back on, it stays on.

I think it is just because are human and spoiled,I catch my self when the lights go out trying to flush the toilet .Imagine how they survied in the olden days we are Lucky.

Because we are so used to doing all these things, we don't really know what to do when the electricity's out! I wander around in circles! I'm glad it's not out too often!
