The loss of James Brown is tragic for the musical community. He was a great gift to soul, funk, and dance in general. While his claim to be the godfather of soul can be contested by the likes of Ray Charles and others, his effect on the funk and dance in the modern age is undeniable. Without James there would be no HIp Hop, no Techno, and no alot of things (Mic Jagger has admitted to borrowing some James Brown moves, as well as Michael Jackson), and while there are pleanty of people that would think that it may have been better that way I truely think we were blessed to even have him. He will be missed... But I guess Poppa's gotta brand new body bag...

He was a great entertainer. I have never cried for a celebrity, and I doubt I will start now. He lived a full life, and he is in Rock & Roll Heaven with some great company - why would I feel sad?

He was an icon and will be missed. If I lived near NY I would try to visit his final resting place.
